The project aims to make possible for visually impaired people to read books that do not exist in the form of Braille, for example. Through the audio they will explore new content in two languages: Portuguese and Spanish, making the written language auditory language.
The project covers the visually impaired, motor, intellectual, dyslexic and illiterate.
In partnership with SMPED (Municipal Department of People with Disabilities and Reduced Mobility) the READ consists in providing a scanner, specially designed for scanning books with added speech synthesizer, and a computer with a multimedia feature and headphones for 31 public libraries in the State of São Paulo. This project provides access, by the target audience, to almost 100% of the printed collection of municipal libraries.
